Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 9/1/2021

Nothing makes you appreciate beautiful Montana weather like spending two weeks down south in 98% humidity and temperatures in the 100’s! Imagine my delight in getting off the plane to a cool 69 degrees last Friday. Thank you to everyone who asked about my mom, she is doing well now and ready to get out and about.

September is our programming kick-off month and there is something for everyone. The best way to find out about the different programs going on is to pick up a calendar at the front desk. We have melodramas, art classes, STEM camp, book discussion groups, Sweet Tea Tales, Family Game Night, Holocaust Project meetings, Friends meetings, Business Buzz, and more. I have contingency plans for everything if the evil COVID-19 bug causes complications.

We are still washing our books and media checkouts, as well as cleaning surfaces all over the Library. Beach is the perfume of the year at the Library, and it seems to be working.

One big schedule change is our different story times. This year we have grouped our preschool story times to Friday. They will start with regular story time for the public at 9:30 a.m., Kristi’s Kids at 10:30 a.m., Head Start at 11:30 a.m., and Wagner’s Playhouse at 1:00 p.m. This will allow all our special story time guests to come on one day and share their musical talents, art abilities, and of courses, our great friend Deanna Mydland and her PBSKids programming.

The Friends will be meeting on September 9 at 5:15 p.m., to plan for the fall and winter activities. If you would like to be a Friend, please feel free to come and join the meeting to see what they are all about. They have finished the bench project and are now looking forward to assisting with the Holocaust Project as well as the Christmas Stroll.

The Holocaust Project will meet on September 23 at 5:00 p.m. for Teens, followed by the regular book discussion group at 6:00 p.m. Committee assignments will be made at the 5:00 meeting so make sure you are there! Feel free to bring dinner with you at 5:00 if you are running from one event to another.

If anyone has any questions about programming or anything else on the calendar, please give us a call at 287-3763 or stop by the front desk.
