Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Fike Announces Candidacy for Whitehall Mayor

I am running for your Whitehall mayor as a write-in candidate. So, who am I? My name is Kathleen Fike.

I was born and raised in Utah, but please don’t fault me for that. I really am proud of where I come from, who I am, and where I’ve been. I’m also proud to say I know where I want to stay - right here in Whitehall, Montana. I have lived in six other states but Montana has always been home for me.

My husband of 27 years, David Fike, was born and raised in Deer Lodge, MT. We have raised five children between us, one living in Utah and four living in Montana. We have eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.

We moved to Whitehall after purchasing our home, with the help of realtor Millie Baycroft, from Robert and Judith Hermann in October 2003. It was then that I told David I would someday run for Mayor of Whitehall. So, after more than a decade here, now is the time to work for it.

My employment has been, but not limited to: CNA, business manager as well as office manager for a dental clinic, manager for a senior citizen center, bookkeeper for a grocery store, and debt collector. I have done a little bit of everything. I have waited tables, been a bible teacher for the younger children, and most recently worked as a 2020 census worker. I have been exposed to and worked with a variety of personalities.

My past is 66 years and counting. Within those years are laughter, sadness, strength, weakness, sin, forgiveness, love and dislikes, good things, and dreadful things. In other words, I am a human, I am not a robot.

But why run for Mayor? I want to be a part in setting real and realistic goals and plans. To know and work towards the needs of “now” as well as the needs in the near and distant future. To communicate issues, good or bad, help find solutions and act upon them. To keep a budget that stays within itself and is transparent to all.

One of the jobs as a mayor is being a representative for Whitehall, and that I can do, with pride. As a mayor there are matters that the position cannot change nor make promises on. However, I promise you, I AM a change, and I will be a welcomed one with your help. The people can make a difference and working together we can accomplish much!

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Nevertheless, you have done well to share with me in my difficulty. Philippians 4: 13-14

I believe: God created all equally, the Constitution, our Rights, our FREEDOMS. I believe in freedom of choice and that people should be responsible for their own choices and not the Government. I believe you can have all the knowledge in the world and yet have no wisdom, but you cannot have wisdom without knowledge. I believe a small town like Whitehall can make a substantial difference in Jefferson County and our beautiful state of Montana.

I have a whole lot of yesterdays, a desire for tomorrow and dreams to live today.

Please remember on November 2 to vote Kathleen Fike for Whitehall Mayor.
