Name to a Face: Dana Brunet

Where might you know Dana Brunet from?

She's the smiling face behind the deli counter at the Peppertree.

She's the helping hand who gave you a tow a few years back when your vehicle broke down.

She's the lover of stars and stripes clothing, known for her patriotism and love of her country.

That's Dana Brunet.

Dana has been in Whitehall for nearly two decades. After a decade living off the grid with her husband Kevin near Boulder, the Brunets began Whitehall Truck and Towing in 2005 and have been small business owners in Whitehall since. In 2018, Dana purchased the Peppertree Deli, located in the heart of Whitehall, the Borden's building. The Deli is owned now by Dana and her oldest daughter Samara, with her youngest daughter Shayna assisting as well.

Dana isn't originally from Whitehall, but loves it like she has lived here her whole life. Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dana completed her high school education in Wisconsin before taking on college in Wassau, Wisconsin.

In 1992, while enjoying her love of motorcycles and all things wheeled, she met Kevin at a Fourth of July party for a Veterans motorcycle club. Their mutual love and respect of Harleys brought them together and is a part of their lives still.

As owners of Whitehall Truck and Towing they controlled thirteen long-haul semis and employed twenty-six drivers. Their prime location near the Canadian Highway (Highway 69) brought them years of business. In 2019 they sold the business and Kevin, happily, retired.

Dana purchased the Peppertree Deli from the former owner with little intent of making huge changes. Knowing when she had a good thing going in the business, Dana has added little things, like breakfast items, salads, and baked goods to the menu, but has made sure to keep the high quality ingredients everyone knows and loves on hand. The Peppertree also focuses on local products, such as Bausch potatoes and pies baked locally, to keep the small town feel and quality everyone expects.

Dana plans to retire in the near future, leaving the Peppertree in full control of her daughters. Wanting to leave a legacy for the girls was her primary intent upon purchasing the business, and the success of the business has grown under her love and tutelage.

An active member in the community via the Chamber, her church, the haunted house, and more, Dana loves the community in which she lives and works. With many big changes in the community on the horizon, she hopes that Whitehall stays small business oriented.

Please say hi and thank you for all her hard work the next time you see her.
