• Ballots were mailed to Jefferson County registered voters on October 15 for the election of Mayor of the Town of Whitehall and a public vote for the Town of Whitehall to start the process to be included in the Jefferson Valley Rural Ambulance District. This election will be conducted by MAIL BALLOT ONLY. The regular polling places will not be open.

The place of deposit and the days and times when the ballots may be returned to the place of deposit before election day and on election day are: Jefferson County Clerk and Recorders office at 102 South Monroe Street, Boulder, MT 59632. Office hours are 8 am to Noon and 1 pm to 5 pm Monday through Friday and on election day, November 2 from 7 am to 8 pm. In order to be counted, ballots must be received at the election office by 8 pm on election day, November 2.

If you have any questions about your ballot call 406-225-4020. If you believe you were to receive a ballot and did not, ballot(s) may be obtained at the Clerk Recorders office. If you are interested in becoming an election judge for the Federal Primary in June of 2022 and the Federal General Election in November of 2022, please call 406-225-4020.

• Screams Come True continues this weekend at the Whitehall Community Center. It’s a really cool haunted house and hay maze. Geared towards a more mature audience, this event is not recommended for children under school age, but is left to the discretion of the parents. If you can’t get enough of Halloween thrills and chills, there is Halloween fun in Boulder at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds this weekend. For more information, times, etc. visit http://www.bigrockfrightnights.com.

• The Jefferson County Parks, Trails and Recreation Commission reminds residents that because this is a rural county, ranchers may be moving their cattle to new pastures. You may encounter cattle almost anywhere while driving through Jefferson County. Please be careful, be aware and be courteous if delayed. • These past few weeks there has been an increase of Covid-19 cases in the county. If you develop symptoms, regardless of vaccination status, contact your primary care provider, local urgent care or local emergency room for further guidance. A reminder of the symptoms: loss of taste or smell, fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat, congestion, runny nose, or vomiting.

FLU SHOTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE! Protect yourself and others from the flu this fall and winter. A flu vaccine can protect you, your loved ones and your co-workers from the flu. Shots will be scheduled Tuesdays in Whitehall from 1 pm to 3:30 pm at 11 E. Legion, Wednesdays from 10 am to 3 pm in Boulder at 214 South Main and Fridays from 1 pm to 4 pm in Clancy at 3 N. Main. Call the Jefferson County Health Department at 406-225-4007 to make an appointment.

• Get into the Christmas spirit and find that perfect gift at the Holiday Christmas Bazaar, Saturday, November 20, in the Jefferson High School North Gym in Boulder. The bazaar is from 10 am to 3 pm and admission is free. Along with the many vendors on site with a variety of products for sale, homemade bread and soup will be available from Growing Community Naturally. • Old Man Winter will be visiting us soon! For current snow removal policy from the Jefferson County Road Department go to http://www.jeffersoncounty-mt.gov/roads/html. Residents are reminded that it is illegal to plow snow from driveways into the county right of way. Remember, slow down around plows and give yourself extra time to travel during the winter months. • The Jefferson County Museum, housed in the 1898 red schoolhouse at 5 N. Main Street in Clancy presents ‘Homesteading on the High Plains’ an illustrated lecture by Lee Silliman, Saturday, October 30 at 3 pm Admission is free. • There is always plenty of activity at the Whitehall Community Library, 110 1st Street West. Thursday, October 28th activities include STEM Camp at 3:45 pm; also at 3:45 pm Reader’s Theatre; 5 pm is the Teen Leader Meeting and at 6 pm the Holocaust discussion.
