Screams Brings in Over 1200 People

Screams Come True Haunted House and Hay Maze brought in over 1200 people to the Whitehall area over the course of its two weekend run.

When the idea originated after Halloween in 2018, creator Liz Pullman thought the house would be successful if it brought in 100 people a night. The haunt, just closing out its third season, has exceeded all expectations.

In 2021, the furthest attendees documented were from Conrad, Polson, Roundup, Shelby, Hamilton, and Boise, ID.

"We took pictures of every group as they came through, which can be found on our Facebook page," Pullman said. "It's amazing how many faces I don't recognize! We introduced many to Screams, but also to Whitehall."

The event, brought to you by Gold Junction Presents and assisted by sponsorships by Jefferson County Events and local businesses, began setup on September 22, just one month before opening night. Over three dozen volunteers, mostly children, spent every afternoon building the haunted house and hay maze. The haunt has a reputation of intricate attention to detail and sophisticated layout to keep, and this year's volunteers did nothing but surpass everything expected of them.

"This really is a labor of love...a dream come true. The people that have been here from the beginning of this crazy idea of mine have made it all possible. We have kids who have been here from the very first year, when it was located in the Town Ambulance barn, who have then brought in their siblings to help in later years. It's really become a community event. It wouldn't happen without the support of our volunteers and sponsors," Pullman said.

Screams will be back at it next October and hopes to add a third weekend of scaring to the schedule of events.
