A Tribute to Lewis Bowen

My Ole Man

He was a giant, when I was a kid

But I was always trying, to do everything he did

I still remember, no matter how hard, every lesson he taught me

Growing up, just learning how to be like

My Ole Man

He was a giant, a lion, and father of his pride

But as I got older, I became defiant

And he made me walk the line

He knew, someway, somehow,

When to lift me up and when to let me fall

Looking back, he always had a plan

My Ole Man

His hands always callous, his clothes sometimes dusty,

My Ole Man

I hope he's proud of who I am,

My Ole Man

And now I finally understand, but I've still got a lot to learn

To be even close to being like

My Ole Man

Now I'm the giant of a man, full of pride

And I'm trying all the lessons I was taught from

My Ole Man

I know I can't compare to, or be like

My Ole Man
