I can't believe it is already the beginning of December. To help everyone get in the holiday spirit, the staff is hosting a "Decorate the Library Party" on Friday, December 3rd, at 3 PM. Everyone is invited to help decorate the library for Christmas by putting up trees, decorating the windows, hanging swags, and more. There will be treats and fun for everyone as the library gets decked out for the season!

December will bring our Crafts4Christmas programs which will give everyone a chance to make a great gift for a special friend or family member. Sara and Robin have been ordering some fantastic materials to create different projects to share with someone special. The programs will be on December 7th, 9th, 14th, and 16th from 4 PM to 6 PM. These are open to all ages, and they will be a great way to get in the holiday spirit.

If you are looking for a great way to spend time with someone, the library was given a beautiful chess set for patrons to use in the library. We also have three new books on how to play chess, for children and young adults.

Christmas is always the time for blockbuster books and many of your favorite authors have released new titles. Fans of the No. 1 Detective Agency novels by Alexander McCall Smith will enjoy his latest edition to the series, "The Joy and Light Bus Company." Rita May Brown & Sneaky Pie return in "Claws for Alarm," the newest adventure of Mrs. Murphy. The Dune series is now on television and Brian Herbert has joined Kevin J. Anderson in creating a new Dune set of adventures. The library has both the older books and the new series.

Non-fiction fans may want to explore the true story of the kidnapping of Daniel Boone's daughter Jemima in "The Taking of Jemima Boone" by Matthew Pearl. This is a fascinating account of the kidnapping which caused a rippling effect in relations between the Cherokee/Shawnee nations and the early settlers.

For those wishing a light, humorous read, Rhys Bowen added the next installment to her Royal Spyness mysteries with "God Rest Ye, Royal Gentlemen." Mrs. Jeffries returns in two new mysteries by Emily Brightwell as the household of Inspector Witherspoon are at it again. For these and more, stop in and take a look on the "New" bookshelf.
