Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 1/5/2022

The new year will be ushering in new programs, starting with a unique series of presentations on Hydrotherapy by Judy Schwab on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 6:00 PM. For more information on this program, contact the front desk. Also, that evening at 6:00 PM will be our first Family Game Night of the new year. Bring your family and friends for a night of snacks, games, and fun to conquer the winter blues.

The library will be holding a Reading Scavenger Hunt from January 3-March 31. Participants receive a list of different genres and must read one book in each area to finish. The purpose is to give readers a chance to try out different books than they would usually read and discover new authors along the way. Reading sheets may be picked up at the front desk.

Regular programming kicks in with art classes, Reader’s Theater, and storytimes. Art classes will be a little different this semester as K-1 will meet on Tuesdays at 3:45 PM, and 4th-8th will meet on Wednesdays at 3:45 PM during the same time as Reader’s Theater. The Reader’s Theater group will be working on puppet shows based on fairy tales this winter. The 2nd and 3rd graders will make puppets, draw backdrops, and edit scripts.

After receiving information on falls in adults over 60, and being disturbed by the facts, the library is looking into hosting a virtual Stepping On program. Did you know that 95% of hip fractures are caused by falling and that falls are the leading cause of both fatal and nonfatal injuries for adults aged 65 and older? If you are interested in attending this seven-week program for yourself or others you care for, please contact the library at 406-287-3763.

For those who want to explore the many uses of computers but really haven’t had a lot of experience using them, we have a class for you. Beginning January 18, 2022, at 1:30 PM, the library will be offering a Beginning Computer Class for adults. Please let us know if you would like to come as space is limited. If more people sign up than we have room for, we will add another class.

The library will be closed on Monday, January 17, 2022, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will be open during regular hours during the rest of the week.
