Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 2/2/2022

Last Thursday we had a truly extraordinary program as Cindy Buscarow shared her family's Holocaust history with a full audience. There was silence as she spoke of her family's attempt to rescue her grandparents and great-grandparents, followed by their realization that they could not escape. They were fully aware of what was happening to the German Jews in 1943 and what their fate would be. Cindy shared heart-breaking letters as they said goodbye to their children and wished them the best. It was truly a night to remember. If you would like to see more, go to https://bit.ly/32KcwOu. KXLF will be posting the entire program on their Facebook page as well.

If you are in the library this month, stop by and see the amazing timeline display the teenage members of the Holocaust Project put together. It gives an overview of the entire era as well as favorite quotes from the Holocaust Project teens.

The Holocaust Book Club has voted to continue meeting next year. If you would like to be a part of the book club just stop by the front desk and pick up a book. The participants in the discussion group each talk about the book or books they have read and what they learned from each story.

We are still collecting names of those who wish to participate in the Stepping Up Program to prevent falls. This multi-week series deals with many of the reasons older people fall and how to prevent such accidents from happening. If you would like to be part of the series, please call the library, and leave your name and phone number.

The second and third graders are working on fairy tale puppet shows to present at the library at the end of February. Everyone will be invited to come and see their hard work. Until then, the upstairs will be in slight pandemonium as they finish decorating their puppet characters on Wednesdays from 3:45 to 4:45.

February calendars will be finished by the time you read this. I am just finalizing several new programs for times and dates. If you have an idea for a new program, please stop by and chat with me about making it happen. The best ideas come from our patrons who have a variety of interests they would like to explore and share.

February 21 is President's Day; the library will be closed that Monday and be open normal hours the rest of that week.
