It’s March and the leprechauns are invading the Library! One has decided to take up residence in the building, and we need your help in finding him! Anyone who finds our leprechaun and turns him into the front desk will receive a prize. He is a slippery little thing and seems to escape as soon as he is caught so we will need lots of help finding him!

March calendars are out; look for some great new programs. We will be focusing on spring this month with ideas for yards, gardens, hiking, and more. Watch for details next week!

Our children’s section has added several new series and volumes to the existing series. People are always asking me what I am reading and honestly, children’s books are some of the best-written volumes I have ever read. With that said I am sharing several of my favorite new titles which are great for any reader to enjoy.

A fun new genre in children’s literature is mysteries based at the turn of the century. For those looking for an adventurous heroine, the Myrtle Hardcastle mysteries are well-written, funny, exciting and full of great historical facts. Myrtle and her governess are always investigating murders through no fault of any adult in charge of her. This is a great series for young people who love to get away in a book and forget all the stress in the modern world.

Along that same line, Marthe Jocelyn has found her calling in reinventing Agatha Christie as a 12- year-old child. She, along with her friend, Hector Perot, solve the most unlikely cases with a cast of great Victorian characters. Both series are just the solution for bored tweens.

We have also received a complete set of the Green Ember series. This highly recommended fantasy series deals with a cast of sword-wielding rabbits who face different adventures and make thoughtful choices in a land experiencing a dark and dangerous threat. This multi-volume set is a good choice for families with multiple children who enjoy reading together as a family.

The Emperor’s Ostrich by Julie Berry is a wonderful mix of magic and mayhem as the heroine goes in search of her cow. Along the way, she picks up an odd cast of characters who share her quest to recover Alfalfa with a magical map. This is a great read for those who love fantasy and adventure.

For these and more good books, stop by the Library to check out our new bookshelf. If we don’t have the title you want, we can interlibrary loan it for you from our sister libraries or get it from anywhere in the country for a dollar postage charge. Happy reading!
