Ledger Looking Back 25 Years: March 6, 1997

The town of Whitehall officially requested, and received, a 30-day extension on its reply to the legal motion filed before the Montana Supreme Court protesting aspects of the Whitehall water improvement project.

Lulu Taylor celebrated her 103rd birthday in Whitehall on February 27th at the Whitehall Senior Citizens Center. Several friends joined Lulu for the celebration and a special cake was presented on her behalf. She was born on February 25, 1894.

Hervey Perez of Whitehall’s Asten Center of Natural Therapeutics visited the Montana State Legislature as part of a group who went to Helena to give massages to legislators, legislative spouses, and staff at the State Capitol. The Montana Somatic Practices Legislative Coalition, an organized group representing a variety of massage practitioners, have provided massages in the Capitol since the 1993 Legislative Session.

Trojan Educator of the Week was Jim McCrossin, math and science teacher at Whitehall Middle School and former high school principal. Mr. McCrossin has been in Whitehall education for six years and has been involved in education for 19 years. Jim and his wife, Judy, have three children, JP, Joe, and Jessie.

Trojan Student of the Week was Jessica Bell, a freshman. She was nominated by Mrs. Tilton-Chiovaro. Jessica is the daughter of Bruce and Patty Bell and likes to play sports and draw. She excels in French and plans to attend college after she graduates from high school.

Trojan Athlete of the Week was Eric Alley, a guard on the Trojan basketball team. He scored 34 points at the 4B District Tournament. He was nominated for his solid play and leadership. Eric is a senior and the son of Jeff and Leslie Alley. He enjoys basketball, golf, and art and plans to attend MSU.
