Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 3/23/2022

One of the most enjoyable things about working in libraries is sharing wonderful educational programming for all ages. The staff has started a series of programs on different countries for children from grades K-8 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:45 PM. We will be studying Japan, Germany, India, Africa, and South America. The programs include looking at cultural practices, discovering folklore and crafts from different countries, trying foods, and hearing from people who have lived there or visited there. These programs are open to all children but they are set up by age level so please check the calendar.

It is getting to be tax season and the Library staff is ready to assist you in finding forms and information on the internet to assist in tax preparation. However, just as we are not lawyers or doctors, the staff are not tax accountants and are not allowed to give tax advice. Thank you for respecting our boundaries in this area. The Library is no longer receiving tax forms as they are available online instead. Both sites for the IRS and MT IRS are very simple to navigate and staff is always ready to help patrons locate the website.

Next Tuesday, March 30th, at 1:00 PM members of the Whitehall Garden Club will be presenting "Blooming in Whitehall: How to Prep Your Yard and Garden." For many patrons who have moved here from out of state, this program will teach the secrets of having successful gardens and beautiful yards in high mountain areas. Master Gardener Diane Ward will be on hand presenting all types of information to help make Whitehall bloom.

Next Thursday, March 31st, at 6:00 PM the Holocaust Project will present Rabbi Sonja and Holocaust education in modern Germany. The war has been over for decades but how is the history of this time period being presented to the young adults who live there? This will be a fascinating study of historical accuracy as seen by another culture. The program is free and open to the public.

History Book Club will meet on Monday, March 28 at 6:00 PM. They are reading about ancient Egypt this month. Everyone chose a different book about the Egyptian empire during the high kingdom period of the pyramids.

Summer Reading planning is well underway. This year the theme is based on oceans and it will be waves of fun! Watch for more information here.
