Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 4/6/2022

We are having a great time visiting cultures around the world this month with the 21st Century students. This week we will finish Africa, then on to Germany, India, and South America. Everyone is learning about art, crafts, food, and folklore for each area. The programs meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:45 PM. The kindergarten thru 3rd grade is meeting on Tuesdays, and the 4th thru 8th grade meet on Thursdays. Everyone is welcome to come and join us even if they are not in the school program.

We will host Deanna Mydland this Friday, April 8th at 10:30 AM. for PBSKids Storytime. Deanna always comes with multiple learning activities for preschoolers to try out. This will be a great morning of exploring the world with all five senses.

For those of you who want to improve your mental capacity, Diane Jensen will be doing an abacus class in April for older seniors. Using an abacus may help with cognitive abilities as well as other mental stretching. If you know someone who would enjoy this brain-stretching exercise, please sign up at the Library or call 1-406-287-3763. The class has limited space so sign up early.

We will be hosting several mental health trainings soon. If you are interested in taking the Mental Health First Aid, Teen Mental Health First Aid, or ACES training, please call the Library at 1-406-287-3763. These classes are meant to help adults who work with others recognize different mental health issues and know where to go for help.

The Friends of the Library will be meeting on April 14th at 5:00 PM. They have many things on the agenda to discuss, including summer reading. If you love to meet people, help with many of the Library's activities, and volunteer to process books, then the Friends are a wonderful way to get involved. If you are interested, just come to the meeting, and jump in.

The Pokemon Club is now meeting on Wednesdays at 3:30 PM and Fridays at 2:30 PM. This group of young people is always looking for new members to come and trade cards or set up a game.

If you need a calendar for April or just have questions about our many programs, please stop by the front desk and ask any staff member or volunteer. They are always happy to help.
