Garden Club Arbor Day Celebration This Friday Throughout Town

Trees around your home can increase property value by up to 15% or more. Studies of comparable houses with and without trees place a markedly higher value on those whose yards are sheltered by trees.

Arbor Day is Friday, April 29th and the Whitehall Garden Club is planning the second annual Arbor Day Celebration in the Whitehall Community Center from noon until 4 PM. The garden club members will distribute 29 FREE seedling trees to attendees to celebrate our 29th year as a Tree City USA. Trees available this year are Engelmann Spruce, Plains Cottonwood, Amur Maple, Aspen, Ponderosa Pine, and Prairie Sky Poplar.

There will be tree trivia and tree identification games with prizes for youth and adults. Other student activities are scheduled at the Whitehall Community Center.

Vendors, agencies, and groups will be in attendance to help you with any questions you may have about trees. Some of the representatives will be MSU Extension, the Whitehall Parks, Trees, and Cemetery Board, USDA Forest Service, National Center for Appropriate Technology, National Resources and Conservation Service, Jim Hicks - Expert Tree Care, Americorp, 4-H/Ag Program, Vigilante Electric, Northwestern Electric, Tom Elpel - Author and Naturalist, and Wild Montana-Southwestern Wildlands, just to name a few.

The Whitehall Community Library and PBS Kids will present a special storytime at 10:30 AM and events for all ages at 1 PM at the Library.

Join the fun at the Whitehall Community Center and the Library and welcome the beginning of the growing season.
