Whitehall Community Theatre Kicking Off Season with Auditions May 3 at the Star

Gold Junction Presents (GJP) is moving forward with Whitehall Community Theatre, with auditions for An Experiment and The Literati Awards scheduled for 6 PM on Tuesday, May 3 at the Star Theatre. Both of these one-act plays can be viewed on YouTube for character ideas.

Please come to auditions with either a brief piece prepared (for those of you who have acted before!) or email goldjunctionpresents@gmail.com for a prepared audition segment from each of the one-acts. If you cannot make the May 3 audition but would still like to participate, please email GJP as soon as possible.

Participants will need to select which one act they want to act in and they will be background help for the other, and vice versa. If you do not wish to act, but want to help with sets, costumes, etc., please contact GJP.

An Experiment (by Brent Holland): The Hunger Games meets Survivor in this experiment. Portrayed in a fantasy world, five confused participants wake up with no memory of their past life … with only one word, a personality descriptor (such as compassionate, courageous, or orderly) written in type on their shirts. The doctor explains that each is here willingly and that they are all being compensated for their participation in a research study. Will the assigned attribute of each participant affect their behavior when under extreme duress? Once the experiment begins and they find out that to lose is to die, all five do what they must to survive the experiment.

The Literati Awards (by Claire Epstein & Ian McWethy): Tonight the brightest stars of classic literature are coming together for the biggest awards show of the year - so of course they’re all on their absolute worst behavior. Romeo’s jealous that Juliet got nominated, Sherlock Holmes keeps trying to deduce the results from the accountants, and it’s all security can do to keep Gollum away from his precious trophy. Everyone’s walking the red carpet, from Elizabeth Bennet to Holden Caulfield, but only one can walk away with the big award for The Greatest Literary Character of All Time. Who will it be? With five possible endings, only the audience vote can decide! The classics get a showbiz twist in this wickedly funny comedy.
