Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 5/18/2022

Mystery Book Club will meet on Tuesday, May 24 at 5 PM this month. Speaking of book clubs, I have a group of 4th -8th graders who want to start a new book club at the Library. They will be discussing the latest in young adult literature as well as favorite series. If you are interested in joining us this June for our first meeting, please let us know by calling the Library at 287-3763. This will be a great way to keep from hitting the summer slide as well as make new friends.

The History Book Club will meet on Monday, May 23 at 6 PM. We will be choosing books for the summer months as well as discussing our historical fiction choices for May. The History Book Club normally meets on the last Monday of the month but is getting together early this month due to the Memorial Day holiday.

The Library will be closed on May 30 for Memorial Day but will be open the rest of the week during normal hours.

If you have a child or children who are not enrolled in the summer 21st Century Program at the school and want to participate in the Library Summer Feeding Program, please call us at 287-3763 or stop by. We need an accurate count to ensure there is enough food for everyone.

If you have wanted to join the Pokemon Club but do not have cards of your own, the Library now has cards to check out during the meetings. This great group of tweeners and teens meets every Monday and Friday after school. Come to any meeting and learn the basics of Pokemon card playing.

Summer Reading will be starting Monday, June this year. Anyone birth to 100 can sign up to participate and this year we have partnered with the Star Theatre to offer free movie passes or free snacks during the summer movies. Prizes also include kid’s meals certificates to Subway and of course, our fabulous end-of-the-year store. All programs are free and open to the public. The June calendars will be out soon so get ready to mark the calendar for all types of summer adventures.

The Library has several new volunteers so you may see a few new faces around the front desk. These great helping hands are the reason so many of our daily tasks are done so quickly, thus enabling the staff to plan more programming, get new materials cataloged, and answer numerous questions about technology, reference areas, and reserves. If you are interested in volunteering, just stop by the desk, and fill out an application.
