One would think that things were a lot different back in 1896, and in many ways they were. But, some things were much like today. In May 1896, headlines included destructive tornadoes in Kansas, a fire in a Colorado town that left at least 2000 people homeless, high-profile murder trials, and trouble in the Middle East.
