Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 6/8/2022

This week we will kick off our first set of programs on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with a special program on different kinds of rocks, rock hunting, what types of rocks there are, and how to find really cool types of rocks to collect. Rockhounding is a big pastime in Whitehall, so everyone will enjoy Settings owner Pam Polachi as she takes us on a rock'n adventure.

Wednesday evening, June 8 at 5:30 PM begins the Dance Workout class which will feature a variety of different exercise types. Everyone is invited to come and work those winter pounds off or just have a great exercise experience.

Our first STEM camp of the year will be on Thursday, June 9 at 2 PM. For all of us who love to see how the world works, this is a time for experiments on everything from crystals to tracking.

The Friends of the Library are meeting on Thursday, June 9 at 5 PM. If you would like to join the Friends group, please come to the meeting. Our Friends do an amazing job of promoting the Library, hosting special events, and fundraising for things like new computers.

Next week on Wednesday at 10:30 AM we will be exploring ocean adventures during this great day of crafts, learning, and more. We don't have a lot of oceanfront property in Montana, so this is a terrific way to learn all about the watery world around us.

We have finalized the arrangements for the Summer Feeding Program. Meals will begin on June 13 instead of June 6 as we have partnered with Action, Inc. in Butte. They are going to provide free, ready-made lunches for us to hand out to any child under the age of 18 from June 13 to July 28 at the Library. We will be passing out meals from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. It is taking many hands to do this and snacks for hungry children during the summer. I want to thank Action, Inc., the Whitehall Food Bank, Sincerely Paul, the Friends of the Library, our volunteers, and anyone else who will be working with us this summer to make it happen.

Don't forget to pick up the schedule of all our events and sign up for Summer Reading. The Library is open from 9 AM to 7 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays; 1 PM to 7 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays; 9 AM to 5 PM on Fridays; and 9 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays.
