I can’t believe the Summer Reading Program is half over! Where did the time go? To celebrate July, the Library is hosting the ever entertaining Kyle Graves and his magic show. Kyle is the son of Mr. E, who has performed at the library for many years. Kyle has accompanied him and joined in the performance for several years now. Kyle is ready to show us his solo act so be sure to attend on Wednesday, July 13, at 10:30 AM.

This week STEM Camp will be on Thursday, July 7th, at 2 PM. Brandi will be experimenting will different types of chemical reactions. Our science kits from National Geographic have all arrived so get ready for some exciting science fun.

This Friday, July 8th, at 10:30 AM, Deanna Mydland from PBSKids will be bringing her own type of magic to Storytime. Deanna always has a car full of great games, station activities, and books for our preschoolers.

Don’t forget to turn in your blue summer reading sheets for a free movie pass or snacks. The Star Theater and Gold Junction Presents is running a great series of summer films free for children every week and this is a fun way to have free snacks with the movie.

The Library has a large selection of gardening books to help with anything from planting climate appropriate vegetables to watering solutions for dry climates. Growing things at a higher elevation can be challenging for those new to Whitehall who have moved from lower elevations. Come check out our gardening section for different ideas.

One of the questions I always get asked in the summer is what to read. The slower summer months are a great time to explore different types of series such as the many cozy mysteries in the collection, young adult fantasy trilogies, thrillers from bestselling authors, and even a good children’s adventure series.

Summer is also a wonderful time to read with and to your children. With all of the electronics everyone is required to spend time on at work, school, or just filling out forms; reading to children is a memorable way to share a great story and talk about it together.

The July calendars are out so stop by and pick one up at the front desk. If you have any questions about different programs or services, please feel free to call us at 287-3765 or stop by.
