Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Sarah Clark Miller, 40

Our brave Sarah left us Wednesday, August 10, 2022, after a nine-year battle with brain cancer. She died peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family.

Sarah was born April 19, 1982, to Leslie and Robert Clark in the hospital in Sheridan, Montana, and grew up on the family ranch in Waterloo, Montana. She grew up riding horses and driving the family's Pinto Belgians. At age 7, she rode her horse from Bannack to Helena for the 3 weeks of the Montana Centennial Wagon Train.

Sarah attended school in Twin Bridges and graduated in the class of 2000. She enjoyed Volleyball, Speech, and Drama but her true love was Creative Writing. She started a weekly Poetry Slam that was held at The Weaver's Studio which was enjoyed by many people of all ages. She loved hunting with her Dad and placed as Grand Champion in Shooting Sports in 4-H at the Madison County Fair.

She attended Kenyon College in Ohio for her freshman year where she studied Creative Writing and played rugby but came back to her beloved Montana to finish at the University of Montana in Missoula. While at college in Missoula, she worked at The Book Exchange – truly one of her all-time favorite jobs. She graduated in 2004 with a degree in Native American Studies and a minor in English. In 2005 she traveled to the Nosara Yoga School in Costa Rica and become a certified Yoga Instructor.

When attending the Small Farmer's Journal Draft Horse Equipment Sale with her parents in 2007, she got reacquainted with her childhood crush, Justin Miller. Justin moved to Montana and started working for Robert and RAC Construction. Sarah and Justin married in May of 2008 at the family ranch in Waterloo and they welcomed their son Benjamin Walter Miller in 2009.

Following Ben's birth, Sarah and Justin opened their coffee shop, Jumping Rainbow Espresso, at their home in Twin Bridges. Sarah really cared about her community and supported Buy Local, the Saturday Farmer's Market, and even wrote a weekly column in the Madisonian called "Sustainably Sadie". In December of 2012, their second son, Ruben Archer Miller was born.

Sadly, Sarah experienced her first brain seizure, six months after Ruben's birth and was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She had surgery to remove the tumor in Salt Lake City which left her disabled with hemiparesis and blind on her left side. After 6 weeks of recovery in Salt Lake, the Ruby Valley community rallied around her with an amazing fundraiser "Date Night for Sadie's Sake, which was held in the Round Barn at the Madison County Fairgrounds in Twin Bridges.

Sarah's indomitable spirit did not let her disabilities drag her down. Her unique interests included Essential Oils, Candle Making, Red Tent, and Rock Hounding. She loved making all her own cleaning products and body lotions. And of course enjoying quality time with her family, camping in the woods, and watching her sons grow.

Tragically, Sarah's father, Robert was later diagnosed with a brain tumor and passed away in 2015. This was a terrible blow for the whole family, particularly Sarah. It is a great comfort to her family that Sarah and her Dad are now together.

Sarah is survived by her husband, Justin, and their 2 sons Benjamin and Ruben along with her mother Leslie Clark, and her brother, Liam Clark, Liam's wife Jessica and their two sons, Beckett and Copelan, and numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Robert Clark.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Sarah's name to the Ruby Valley Healthcare Foundation in Sheridan, MT would be appreciated. Sarah's family would like to thank our wonderful Ruby Valley Community for all the love and support during Sarah's battle with brain cancer.
