Two new school administrators, five new teachers, one new teacher aide, a new proposed tardy policy, and about two dozen new computers were among the changes awaiting students when schools opened. The Whitehall Board of Trustees approved the purchase of over 20 new computers for the Whitehall school system. About half of the computers were earmarked for the school computer lab, and the other half were distributed throughout the school.

The Jefferson County Fair, “A Fair of the Heart” was planned to run for four big days and offered something for everyone. Three different rodeos spread out over four days; a talent show; barn dance; dozens of competitive arts, crafts, pets, floral, crops, food, and livestock categories; stick horse rodeo; dog show; live music, and much much more was promised.

The Asten Center of Natural Therapeutics was brought to Whitehall in 1990 by Paige Asten and Hervey Perez. The center provided professional training in the field of massage therapy and had grown to nearly triple its original size by 1997.

Whitehall Volunteer of the Week was Kathy Meyer, a member of the Whitehall Business Association and the Vision 2010 Committee who spearheaded the Whitehall Farmers’ Market. The first Whitehall Farmers’ Market would not have been possible without her efforts.
