Whitehall Sustainability Committee Funds "Let's Play Whitehall!" Playground Project

The Whitehall Sustainability Committee is pleased to announce that Nevada Gold mines, operating locally as Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine, has approved and funded its first project via the grant process vetted by the Whitehall Sustainability Committee. The project, submitted by the Town of Whitehall, is for a playground on Legion Street. We are grateful for the generous support of Barrick in the amount of $35,000 and the vision of the town in regards to this project, which will provide community and visiting children a safe place to play for decades to come.

“I want to thank the WSC committee for approving $35k for the playground project.”

The playground, which will be located at Legion Park where the horseshoe pits are currently located, is set to break ground soon. Funding has also come in from the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundations - $40,000, Town Pump-$10,000, and the Whitehall TIF Board- $30,000 for required grant matches.

The Whitehall Sustainability Committee is currently processing an application for childcare project funding from JLDC and is looking for additional projects.
