Just Ask Georgia: 9/7/2022

Dear Georgia,

After years of shopping at Walmart, I have become aware that the acceptable shopping attire at these stores is pajamas, of varying sorts, and to one degree or another.

I’m not mentioning any place names or my age, but in the time and place where I grew up, this would not have been in the least acceptable. However, times DO change, and as they say, When in Rome...

So anyway, my question. Since most days I wear pajamas all day since I work from my home office, do I need to change into my nighttime PJs before I head out to Walmart? Or would it be just as acceptable to go in my daytime duds?

Classless Dresser

Dear Classless,

Before COVID wearing pajamas out and about had become normal. Now, post-COVID lockdowns it seems that pajamas are everywhere. Not only are they in the supermarkets and the post office, but in Zoom meetings and doctor’s offices.

I myself, a southern lady, prefer to dress to impress when I leave my home. My pajamas are for no one’s eyes but my husband's...nor are they appropriate to wear outside the bedroom.

However, I understand your conundrum. Thus, I shall meet you halfway. Yes, please change into your nighttime PJs, just so your psyche knows you are doing something “fancy.” And by all means, please make sure they are odor and stain-free.

With love, Georgia

Dear Georgia,

If the microwave is broken, can I make my popcorn in the dryer instead?

Poppin’ Fresh

Poppin’,

Oh, dear. While I feel this may actually work, I don’t advise it a bit. If it does work, your clothes will always smell delicious and your popcorn Springtime Clean; if it doesn’t your clothes will forever smell burnt and you shall be forever hungry.

Just go get a new microwave.

With love, Georgia
