Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 10/19/2022

School will be out early Wednesday, October 19th, and out of session completely all day Thursday and Friday, October 20th-21st. Please be aware that there will be multiple children crossing Whitehall Street during these days to get to the Library and they do not always look carefully before crossing.

The Library will be handing out candy for the Trunk or Treat and on Halloween so stop by and show off your costume!

I had a lovely visit with Jennifer Bevill and John Knight from Humanities Montana/DemocracyProject on Monday. They were visiting all the sites for this year’s grant recipients and stopped by to see the Holocaust exhibit and learn about the Library. The Whitehall Community Library has received its second Project Democracy grant and will be doing a multitude of projects with our teens. If you are 12 and above and would like to join us, just stop by the Library for more information.

The Holocaust Project will meet on Thursday, October 27th at 6:30 PM this month. They always meet the last Thursday of the month, but the calendar had an extra week on it, and it was listed on November 3rd. We will be beginning various projects, including digitalizing our entire collection of World War II letters and artifacts, setting up a new exhibit and planning for the Survivor/Rescuer Fair this spring. The project is open to any Whitehall area teen.

We still have some voter registration forms if you have not yet registered to vote in Jefferson County. They are at the front desk so feel free to pick one up. The deadline is fast approaching to get them in on time to vote, so don’t delay.

The Children’s 3-D Printer class will meet for the next two weeks on October 19th and 26th at 3:30 PM. The class is free and materials are provided for everyone, we just ask that you call and sign up your children, so we have enough supplies.

Miss Deanna from PBSKids will be here on October 28th to do Story Time for the day. She plans on having a howling good time and children are invited to wear their costumes.

History Book Club meets this Monday, October 24th at 6 PM. They will discuss American presidents and their families. Everyone is welcome to join in and help pick the topic for next month.

Mystery Book Club will meet Tuesday, October 25th, at 5 PM. Then the Lit to Flic meets at 6 PM for an entire evening of literature and cinema.
