Wayne Jerome Tichenor, 82

Wayne Jerome Tichenor, passed away on November 4, 2022, at the age of 82.

Wayne was born in Glasgow MT on April 9, 1940, to his parents Harold and Doris Tichenor, and was the youngest of four boys: Stan, Clint, and Daryl.

Wayne was a wonderful man who did many great things throughout his lifetime. He was a “Jack of all trades” and if Wayne couldn’t fix it no one could. He had several jobs that were meaningful and stories aplenty with all of them. Wayne started out printing which was his primary job. He continued printing throughout his life. He also worked in the oil fields, dynamiting in Alaska, and was one heck of a trail boss on wagon trains.

Wayne married the love of his life, Carol Arends, on November 22, 1962. Together Wayne and Carol started their lives and went on to welcome four daughters into the world: Carla, Valerie, Sherri, and Jana.

Wayne and Carol along with their daughters settled in Whitehall MT in 1974 on a place just out of town. There they made their lives filled with love, many good horses, and memories galore. Life wasn’t always easy or fair for Wayne and his family, but they always got through and did their best.

Wayne was always fixin’ something and when he wasn’t he was atop a good horse or driving the wagon with a team of good horses.

Trail Boss Wayne always put together a great Wagon Train and made sure it was a time to be had no matter what. The Centennial Wagon Train of 1989 was one he was most proud of and had many stories and memories that were always told.

Wayne always had a great sense of humor, even upon his last breath. He loved family get-togethers, cowboy fires, whiskey, and his animals. He had his favorites for sure, his favorite trusty steed Dandy, his best team Duke and Dolly, and his good ole guard dog Rebel.

Wayne is proceeded in death by his parents Harold and Doris, daughter Sherri, and brothers Clint and Stan.

He is survived by his wife Carol, daughters Carla (Jim) Ahern, Valerie Tichenor, and Jana (Logan) Morris, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Please join the family on November 22, 2022, at 1 PM at the Whitehall Community Center in Whitehall, Montana for a memorial service and then a celebration of life in Townsend, Montana to say WAGONS HO! and enjoy a Cowboy Fire with memories and stories to remember Trail Boss Wayne Tichenor.

“Ya laid a good trail with many blessings. You can now drive your wagon and team to smoother trails and greener pastures Trail Boss!”

“WAGONS HO TO HEAVEN!”
