The Whitehall High School wrestling team traveled to Townsend to compete in the Montana B-C Duals over the weekend.

This 16 team tournament included the top five teams in the state. Friday's competition consisted of pool play; Whitehall wrestled each of the members of their pool, beating Columbus 64-10, Eureka 36-34, and Red Lodge 48-24. Whitehall earned the top spot of their pool which placed them in the championship bracket for Saturday. The first match on Saturday was a close loss to Florence 33-39. This was followed by a win over Cut Bank 42-36, then a loss to Boulder 42-33.

The last match of the day was a rematch with Florence. The wrestlers showed great determination as they avenged their earlier loss with a 51-16 win. The team placed fifth in the tournament.

The individual matches were highlighted by seniors Miles Hoerauf (170) and Leo Scafani (HWT) having perfect undefeated records for the weekend. Hoerauf was 6-0 pinning each of his opponents in the first period. Scafani earned wins in each of his 5 matches.

Senior Dane Hoover (138) was 4-1, seniors Kyle Denny (160) 2-1, Gavin Watson (152) 1-3, Blake Ritz (145) 1-1, Karson Klapan (182) 0-2. Other wrestlers were junior Isaac Skogen (113) 3-1, sophomore Sam Valov (120) 3-3, eighth grader Tucker Witzel (103) 1-4, junior Reilly Slater (126) 1-5, sophomore Cody Fuller (132) 3-0, senior Wesley Biggers (145) 3-2, sophomore Ethan Wock (182) 1-2, Harrison junior Ivar Radcliffe (132) 2-1, freshman Cinch Cogdill (205) 0-2, and Harrison freshman Cassidy Collins (120) 2-3.

This Friday, January 27th, Whitehall will host the wrestling senior night. Dillon, Butte High JV and Superior will be attending. We will be using a mixer format so there will be a lot of wrestling.

Senior night activities start at 5 PM in the varsity gym. Come help us honor the 11 seniors who are so important to this program.
