Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Melitta Nagel, 98

Melitta Nagel went home to be with her Lord and Savior, peacefully in her sleep from natural causes, on January 18, 2023.

Melitta was born in Springfield, Ukraine on May 20, 1924. She was one of 12 children. Melitta was of German descent living in a German village in Ukraine. Melitta, her husband Edmund, and their two-year-old son "Ron" emigrated to the United States in 1953, through the sponsorship of her dear Uncle Alex Wesch. Uncle Alex played a very important part in sponsoring all of her siblings and her mother in their immigration process. Melitta lived in Chicago, Illinois from 1953 until 1963 when she and her husband Edmund, son "Ron" and son Jack moved to Alhambra, California.

Melitta loved the Lord and had a beautiful singing voice which she used in her local church wherever she lived. Her favorite song was "Thank you Lord for Saving my Soul"!

Melitta moved to Whitehall, Montana in 2008 with her son "Ron" Nagel and daughter-in-law Robin Nagel. Melitta lived a very long, healthy life.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edmund Nagel and all of her siblings except one surviving sister, Paula Chachula of Oaklawn, Illinois. Melitta is survived by her immediate family of son Ron Nagel (Robin) of Whitehall, MT, and son Jack Nagel (Michelle) of Apple Valley, Minnesota. She had four grandchildren, Joe Nagel (Maria) of Faribault, Minnesota, Nicole Gilbert (Aaron) of Great Falls, Montana, Christopher Nagel of Farmington, Minnesota, and Mike Nagel (Kendal) of Great Falls, Montana. She had nine great-grandchildren: Ty, Courtney, Hollyann, Bryan, Chase, Paige, and Adam all of Great Falls, Montana; and two great-grandchildren, Fiona and Savannah of Minnesota.

Melitta will have private internment at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, California and a Celebration of Life memorial will be held at Floral Park Baptist Church in Butte, Montana at a future date.
