RMB Issues Phishing Phone & Text Scam Alert

Rocky Mountain Bank wants to help you keep your accounts safe by keeping you informed of current scams. There is a current fraud trend where scammers pose as Rocky Mountain Bank using our phone numbers. The caller then asks the customer to verify a fake transaction and provide their debit card number. In further conversation, the caller then obtains online banking credentials and gains remote access to the online banking account.

Spoofing and bank impersonation scams impact many banks across the US, and we have received reports of bad actors asking customers for their debit card numbers; however, it has now escalated to remote access, external transfers, and now BillPay. This is fraudulent.

Please be aware:

We won’t ask you for your full debit card number! We won’t ask you to remote into your system! We won’t ask you to reveal your online banking details!

And finally - if you get a call, hang up and dial the number on the back of your debit card. We will always take steps to help you.

More information about this and similar scams can be found in the Fraud Prevention section.

What do I do if I get one of these calls or texts?

Don’t respond - call the number on the back of your debit card to reach a representative on our Customer Care team at 877.280.1858, Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CT or visit the branch for assistance if you have questions about activity on your account.

But if you think you may have provided your information to a fraudster, contact us immediately and we will help you with the next steps.

Remember, you can stay updated on scams, learn more tips to protect yourself from fraud, and read real stories by visiting the Fraud Center on our website.
