Exploring the Beauty of Southwest Montana

On May 4, 2023, a group from SouthwestMT.com including Pamala Polachi and Chiara Schober arrived in Augusta, Montana, to explore the beautiful northern, often ignored portion of the Southwest region. The tour began with a visit to the Augusta Fire Hall, which services a very large area. The group was warmly welcomed by the local community and began their journey through the city.

The first stop was the Augusta Historical Museum, where visitors could learn about the city's rich history. The museum showcased artifacts, photographs, and documents dating back to the 19th century, providing a glimpse into Augusta's past. There is even a replica of the dental car of Dr. Oscar A. Kenck, dentist, of Helena, Montana.

After the museum, the group walked down to visit several stores, including F.M. Mack, an antique store offering an array of eclectic items. Along the way, the visitors were able to meander through downtown Augusta, taking in the beautiful scenery and unique architecture. The tour guide pointed out several local businesses, adding to the charm of the experience. They stopped at Forge, Lightning Bug, Blue Pine Wine, and Allen's Manix Store. At each location, the visitors were greeted by friendly staff members and had the opportunity to browse through unique items.

The highlight of the tour was Latigo & Lace, a famous western-themed boutique that has been featured in various magazines and attracts visitors from around the world. The store's collection of western-themed clothing, jewelry, and home decor items was impressive. The visitors enjoyed shopping around Augusta to take home souvenirs.

After Latigo & Lace, the group boarded a bus that took them to view Roundup Barn, a beautiful wedding and party venue just outside of town. The visitors were then able to experience the local cuisine at four different restaurants: Western Bar, Lazy B, Buckhorn Bar, and Wagon's West. Each stop provided a unique atmosphere, allowing the visitors to get a taste of the local culture by being served small bites to keep them energized for the rest of the tour.

The tour ended with a stop in Lincoln to explore the Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild sculpture park, and Hi-Country Trading Post leaving the visitors with unforgettable memories of Augusta and Lincoln. The tour provided a glimpse into the city's history and culture, allowing visitors to connect with the community and experience its unique charm.
