Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 11/8/2023

The holidays are getting closer and lots of events and projects are in the works. I have a request for any of our quilting friends, we need quilt batting to finish a project for the K-8th graders in the Friday afterschool program. If you have any pieces 36" by 36" and would be willing to donate them for the program, please drop them off at the Library. We are also collecting new hats, gloves, scarves, and coats for our Winter Wear Giveaway.

Others are also busy getting ready to play Santa for others. We have forms for children who would like to be involved in the Toys For Tots program. The forms are at the front desk at the Library and may be returned to us so the organizers may purchase just the right gift for your little ones.

Don't forget the Library will be closed this Friday, November 10th for Veterans Day. We will be open regular hours the rest of the week. Thanksgiving closings are Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24 so don't forget to plan ahead for movies and books to curl up with.

Fraud Bingo and lunch will be held on November 14th at 11:30 AM. Reservations are required for lunch so please give us a call if you are planning to attend so there will be enough food for everyone. This is a great way to learn to protect yourself from the many scams going on.

Arlene Weber will be at the Library on November 15th at 6 PM to treat us to an old-fashioned slide show on Whitehall history. This will be a great evening to enjoy learning about the past and viewing pictures in a format many young people have never seen.

The Friends will be meeting on November 10th at 5 PM at the Library. They will be discussing the Christmas Fest, the new reading program, and other activities. If you would like to experience a Friends meeting, feel free to just come and join the fun.

Question of the week: What happens when I put a book in the outside book drop? The book drop is actually a solid box with a large pad in the bottom. When you return books in the drop, they only fall about six inches to the bottom or on top of other books. The lid is designed to stop anything from coming out the way it came in, so books are safe once they are in the drop. The staff empties the drop once a day in the morning before we open. The drop is open 24/7 so you may return books at any time.
