Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 11/22/2023

The Library will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd, and Friday, November 24th for Thanksgiving. We will be open on Saturday for regular hours.

We are excited to see all of the new Christmas decorations the Friends have provided this year. The Homeschool Hangout students are going to decorate the Library on November 30th so it will be already for the season. We will also be displaying our holiday books and movies so they will be easy to find for everyone. The Library has been steadily increasing the holiday movie section as so many of our films are popular with everyone. The collection is building duplicate copies of favorites so there will be no waiting when patrons are in the mood for a special film.

December calendars are almost finished and will be out at the front desk this week. We are planning some special holiday activities including an adult crafting afternoon. This is a great time to sit down with friends and create beautiful things. There is no cost to the program so just plan to show up on December 13th at 2:30 PM.

The Christmas Festival is coming up and the Library is always a busy place for programs that day. Miss Brandi has ordered Christmas stockings to decorate as well as other Christmas crafts. We will have a full day of fun with crafts, the book sale, the Winter Wear Giveaway, the Friends reception, and of course, Santa will be here. Look for a detailed schedule of Library activities on the December calendar.

Just a heads up, there will be no Library programs between Christmas and New Year's Day. The staff takes that week to prepare for the new winter schedule, do some extra cleaning, and take a little time off.

January programs will include Book Bingo. We ran this reading program eight years ago and everyone had so much fun we are doing it again. Participants may pick up bingo cards any time after December 1st, with the Bingo program ending April 30, 2024.

We are also collecting new hats, gloves, scarves, and coats for our Winter Wear Giveaway. Every Christmas Festival we have almost 200 toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary-age children come to find warm clothing for our coldest months of the year. The Library does not require any paperwork for those needing winter gear.
