The Whitehall Town Council gave final approval for the installation of a new fence at the cemetery and up to $5,000 toward the installation of a new water line to the bathroom/concession stand at the Whitehall Rodeo Grounds/Ballfield Complex.

Mike Morris of the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) said the goal of NCAT's Montana Rivers Project was to promote irrigation efficiency in the Jefferson Valley. The irrigation project in the Jefferson Valley involved six ranchers, about 13 fields, and nearly 1,000 acres, and hoped to expand the success the project had in 1998.

With divisional title winners Josh Trudgeon at 98 pounds and Bill Battaiola at 275 pounds, the Whitehall Trojans sent four wrestlers to the state wrestling meet in Billings. The other two who competed were Jamie Reiff at 152 pounds and Scott Merkel at 125 pounds.

Whitehall Student of the Week was sophomore Caleb Risher. He was nominated by Todd Breitenfeldt for his "consistent improvement and interest in science." Caleb is the son of Dan and Marie Risher. He has plans to become an auto mechanic or welder. Caleb enjoys working on engines and welding.

Whitehall Athlete of the Week was senior Kate Mulligan. She was among Lady Trojan leaders in kills, digs, and blocks, and was a key reason why the Whitehall volleyball team was off to a super 10-1 start. Kate brought experience, power, and athleticism to the Lady Trojan front line and was a major personality of team togetherness. Kate is the daughter of Tim and Andrea Mulligan. She has plans to attend Gonzaga University to major in nursing.

WHS Creative Leader of the Week was junior Justin Lucas. Band director Jen Cunningham nominated Justin for "his devoted participation in our band program." Justin is in the high school band, the pep band, and the jazz band. He is the son of Ann and Charles Lucas. Justin plans on becoming a diesel mechanic and has an interest in masonry as well. He enjoys doing models, football, basketball, and collecting scaled trucks.
