Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 3/6/2024

This will be a busy week at the Library with the schedule full of programs for young, old, and in-between. The Caregiver Retreat will occur on Wednesday, March 6th, from 10 AM to 3 PM. Then on Thursday, March 7th, at 6 PM "Robotics R What?" will kick off our new robotics programs for adults, teens, and elementary age patrons. The program is free and open to the public.

Robotics 101 for elementary-age children will meet in the basement on March 8th at 2:30 PM. This program will begin to explain and explore how robotics are becoming a daily part of our lives, and we will build different projects.

Thursday is also Homeschool Roundup day, beginning at 2 PM. Area homeschoolers are invited to come and enjoy all types of fun activities with Miss Brandi and meet other families in the area. The program is open to all ages.

Don't forget to turn your clocks forward this weekend as daylight savings time begins at 2 AM on March 10th. I have no intention of getting up at 2 AM so will be turning my clocks ahead on Saturday evening.

It has been interesting these past few weeks, as the Library has received many new people coming in and many who have not been in the Library in years. Their reasons have varied: "I want to get back to reading," "I am tired of all the bad news on every type of media," "I just moved here and want to explore the library," and my favorite, "I just miss burying myself in a good book."

With the price of everything going up and families having to economize on just about everything, libraries are a wonderful free way to explore everything from pirate adventures to wizards and dragons. The book sale is always open during Library hours and is another great way to get lost in a book.

The Whitehall Community Library is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 AM to 7 PM; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 AM to 7 PM; Fridays from 9 AM to 5 PM; and Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM. Calendars containing our weekly programs are available at the front desk. If you have any questions, please call us at 1-406-287-3763.
