Ledger Looking Back 25 Years: 3/10/1999

MARCH 10, 1999

The Whitehall Town Council spent much of its March 8 meeting discussing ways to improve the appearance of Whitehall. The council discussed cleaning up abandoned cars, improving the appearance of the cemetery, working with the Jefferson County Weed District to develop a town weed management plan, repairing streets damaged during the water improvement project, and efforts on the Spring Clean Whitehall 1999 project.

Over 100 students participated in the Butte-Anaconda Accredited Music Teachers' Spring Festival on March 6.

Whitehall Student of the Week was junior Rick Winn. Tom Wheeler nominated him for his great work ethic in shop class. Rick is the son of Carla Gregory. He would like to become a network administrator for Microsoft in the future. Rick enjoys playing basketball, hacky sack, and "hanging out."

Whitehall Athlete of the Week was Natasha Momsen, who had six aces against Columbus, four aces against Boulder, and several outstanding defensive plays in the District 4-B tournament. Natasha, a junior and the daughter of Wayne and Jean Momsen, moved into a starting role and is one of the key players in the Lady Trojans' drive to the state tournament.

WHS Creative Leader of the Week was Logan Nelson. Jen Cunningham nominated Logan for her "outstanding leadership qualities in Concert and Pep Band." Mrs. Cunningham said Logan was always prepared for class and had a positive attitude. Logan is a junior and the daughter of Mark and Teri Nelson. She has college plans and enjoys basketball and track.
