Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Evelyn Mae Ellis, 78

Evelyn Mae Ellis passed away on March 5, 2024, at her home in Whitehall, Montana. She was born on the farm in Gracefield, Minnesota, on April 7, 1945, the daughter of Walter Parrow and Edna (Ewert) Parrow.

In 1957, Evie moved to Anaconda, Montana, and graduated high school there in 1963. Evie then moved to Minneapolis and worked as a secretary before returning to Montana, where she met her husband, Tom Ellis, at Cedar Park Lanes in Anaconda.

Tom and Evie were married on March 26, 1966, and moved to Seattle, Washington, where they both worked at Boeing. During this time, Jim and Gary were born. In 1970, they moved to Pocatello, Idaho, and then to East Helena, Montana in 1973. Their final move was to Whitehall in 1977.

Evie had several favorite activities and interests. Bible study, church, bowling (she was a National Champion in her age group!), playing cards, and being a Foster Grandma at the elementary school.

Her greatest loves were her sons, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and all the kids she cared for throughout the years. Evie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, and her two sisters. She is survived by the Lord, her sons Jim and Gary (wife Laurie), and grandchildren Jack, Blake, and Nicole.

Evie's life goal was for everyone to know the Lord, believe, and be saved as he died for their sins. Her entire life was spent loving, laughing, and smiling.

A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church of Whitehall on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 3:00 PM, followed by food and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Evie's name to the Whitehall PTSA.
