Ledger Looking Back 25 Years: 5/5/1999

The Jefferson District Ranger office of the Beaverhead/Deerlodge National Forest in Whitehall is located just north of the interstate on Whitetail Road. District Ranger Grant Godbolt said the Forest Service is interested in relocating to the existing Forest Service Property on Legion Avenue next to the Whitehall A&W. Godbolt noted the reason for the potential move is simple: money.

A benefit dinner and auction to raise funds to help defray the medical cost of seven-month-old C.J. Patritti has been scheduled. C.J. was born with extensive heart problems, including the need to repair the aorta and heart membrane, and was born with four "holes" in his heart. C.J. is the son of Chuck and Dani Patritti.

Whitehall Student of the Week was Tammy Woodland for her work in Vocational English. Carole Cogdill nominated Tammy for her improvement in attitude and grades. Tammy is a sophomore and the daughter of Walt and Pat Woodland. She would like to attend college and travel to Spain to study archeology. Tammy enjoys soccer, singing, and dancing.

Whitehall Athlete of the Week was Jennifer Williams. Jennifer, a sophomore, has played No. 1 or No. 2 singles for the Trojans and has played the most exciting matches all year for Whitehall. "Jennifer has been our tie-breaker queen," said coach Bridget Welch. "Jennifer takes it to the ultimate every match." Jennifer is the daughter of Jim and Judiann Williams and enjoys skiing.

WHS Creative Leader of the Week was senior Jamie Reiff. Jen Cunningham nominated Jamie for his year-long leadership skills in the band and his impressive baritone practice time. Because of his efforts, Jamie will attend the Montana State Music Festival. Jamie is the son of Terry and Carol Ann Reiff and has college plans after graduation. He enjoys sports, music, and skiing.
