Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 6/5/2024

And so, it begins again! Summer Reading starts on Monday, June 10th, at 9 AM; Summer Feeding will begin serving the same day. The program will end on July 31st, but we will serve lunch on August 1st as it is a Thursday. This year's theme is "One World, Millions of Stories," and we will be providing stories from around the world. I love faerie tales and folklore, so this will be a great time to look at different cultures and legends. There is a complete calendar for June activities at the front desk and on our new website at https://www.mywhlmontana.com.

The Book Sale has been blessed with a cornucopia of craft books on everything from quilting to knitting to needlework. If you are a crafter or want to learn, come and check out this great selection of instructional and pattern books. Hardbacks are 20 cents a piece, and paperbacks are a dime, so come fill up a bag!

This June, the Library will enjoy several musical story times for preschoolers with Erica Ronsberg, who did the Mommy & Me musical programs earlier this year. Lauren Owen from Lewis & Clark Caverns will also come to share her knowledge of the outdoors with our youngest readers. The first musical story time will be this Friday, June 7, at 10:30 AM, and everyone is welcome.

Our first Wednesday program will be June 12th at 10:30 AM, when the children will make Faerie Gardens to take home. This will help everyone get in the mood for the Whimsical Wonders program on June 22 from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Main Street Green and Star Theatre.

Our June Memory Café will be on the 13th from 2 PM to 3:30 PM with Dan and his crew from MSU. This program is wonderful for those working to retain their memory or who would like suggestions on memory skills to stay sharp. Anyone is welcome to come and learn about the different concerns and treatments for memory loss while having a great time!

The Friends will meet on June 13th at 5 PM for an update on Summer Reading and future projects. They have multiple projects going on, and the Library appreciates everything they do. If you would like to see what they are all about, just come to the meeting to learn more.

The basement is full of prizes, the t-shirts are in, the reading ledgers are printed, and the programs are booked, so join us for a fantastic summer of fun and exploration! Anyone from birth to 120 may sign up, and yes, we have adult and teen prizes.
