Whitehall High School Graduates Class of 2025: Over $700,000 Garnered in Scholarships

The Whitehall School District is beyond proud of the graduating class of 2025 and is glad to celebrate their achievements of graduating from high school. Throughout their school experience, this class has had to balance numerous changes and did so with grace and good character. These things will set you up for success in your future by being able to navigate change and make the best out of any situation. Their hard work and determination did not go unnoticed. Dorothy Shaw Memorial Scholarship: Dorothy Shaw bequeathed money to Whitehall High School and established it to recognize the seniors for their academic achievement. This award is given to seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher and 15 credits in English, Social Studies, Math, Science, or Foreign Language. 2025 Recipients: Lainey Ellison, Hope Nieskens, and Annabelle Welch

Barrick Golden Sunlight ($5,000): This award is given to a Whitehall High School graduate accepted to an approved school. Selection is based upon academic performance, leadership/citizenship, and career aspirations. Preference is given to those entering an engineering or mining-related field. 2025 Recipients: Kari Ellison

Tia Kober Scholarship ($500): Tia Kober was an educator in the Whitehall School District for 38 years; the elementary gymnasium is named in her honor. Ms. Kober and her family support Whitehall High School graduates pursuing a career in education, the medical field, or a STEM program by offering a $500 renewable scholarship, or a double award if not given out in the previous year. 2025 Recipient: Annabelle Welch

Jan and Skye Breitenfeldt Memorial Scholarship: Through a memorandum of understanding between the Wisner Family Foundation and Montana Tech, a scholarship is offered to Whitehall High School graduates attending Montana Tech or Highlands College. The scholarship is renewable; it is the donor's intent to fully support the recipient's tuition, books, and other related fees. 2025 Recipient: Kari Ellison, Aletheia Martin, Madelyn Seccomb, and Sebastian Sommer

Sandra Harper Hunt Memorial Scholarship ($1,000): Mr. Ron Hunt, a graduate of Whitehall High School in 1954, bequeathed funds to WHS in the fall of 2017 to honor his late wife, Sandra Harper Hunt. This annual scholarship of $1000 recognizes community service and volunteerism. Mrs. Hunt was involved in her community by donating her time in the service of others. 2025 Recipient: Madelyn Seccomb

Whitehall Garden Club Scholarship ($1,000): This award honors a graduate pursuing a two-year, four-year, or trade-related degree. Students were scored on their academics as well as involvement in the community. 2025 Recipient: Kari Ellison

Whitehall Little Guy Wrestling Scholarship: Awardees must be high school wrestlers and be recognized as role models for Little Guy wrestlers. Applicants must demonstrate assistance to the Little Guy program. 2025 Recipient: Ethan Wock

Whitehall Country Store Scholarship ($5,000): This scholarship honors academics and outside activities while also focusing on career goals. Awardees receive $5000, distributed equally over two semesters. 2025 Recipients: Kaycee Murphy, Hope Nieskens, Madelyn Seccomb, and Ethan Wock

Whitehall Country Store Scholarship ($1,000): This scholarship honors academics and outside activities while also focusing on career goals. Awardees receive $1000. 2025 Recipients: Kari

Sacry Scholarship ($1,000): Established in honor of Carroll and Cora Sacry in recognition of their and their descendants' influence for more than 60 years at WHS. Recipients must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, three years of sports, or two years in sports and one in band. 2025 Recipients: Kari Ellison and Annabelle Welch

Whitehall American Legion Dennis Smith Memorial Scholarship ($1,000): This scholarship is offered to Whitehall High School seniors who are asked to write an essay answering the question "What is a Veteran?" and what role will America have in the future with many changing world events. 2025 Recipient: Annabelle Welch
