Clarification: Many Sites Being Considered for Women's Prison

The Montana Department of Corrections is evaluating sites for a new women’s correctional facility, including (but not limited to) Butte, Boulder, and Helena.

The Montana Department of Corrections is evaluating any locations across Montana for a new women’s prison.

While the department has held public meetings in Butte and other locations, the DOC has not made a firm commitment to any location. The department does not have a timeline for a final decision.
