The Whitehall Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Mural Project will receive $10,500 from the Montana Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Commission to paint several additional Lewis & Clark murals in Whitehall.
This Whitehall Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Mural, painted on the First Street side of the former Fish, Wildlife, and Parks sign shop (and garage) has been nominated as one of the "Prettiest Places in America."
WHS Organizer of the Week: Whitehall Food Pantry. The Food Pantry board members include Mike Freeman (President), Gordon Jones (Vice President), Barb Nevin (Secretary), Arlene Brentano (Treasurer), and Diane Dolan (Finance & Grant coordinator). The Whitehall Food Pantry has recently received $2,000 in federal funds to support its program.
WHS Volunteer/Good Neighbor of the Week: Foster Grandparent Program. Members include Karen Clark, Betty Simonich, and Ellen Gillespie. These "grannies" are helping at the Whitehall Library throughout the summer to help kids with their reading.
WHS Athlete of the Week: Whitehall White Sox. The Sox, a Cal Ripken League youth baseball team, ripped off 22 straight wins to dominate their season undefeated. They were the conference champions, the conference tournament champions, and the division tournament champions. It's almost unheard of for a baseball team to roll through the season unbeaten. The Whitehall White Sox blended good fundamental baseball with all-out hustle and smart play.
