The Whitehall Town Council voted on July 10, 2000, to settle a salary dispute between the Town and Francine Stevison. During their monthly meeting, they also heard an update on the paving project and voted to begin another dredging of the town's sewage treatment lagoons.
WHS Organizer of the Week: The Whitehall Saddle Club (WSC). The WSC helps manage the rodeo grounds and rodeo arena, and schedules two major summer events. The Whitehall Saddle Club, composed of about 13 area families, sponsors the O-Mok-See series and a southwest Montana Mini Circuit Horse Show. The club supports many community events and organizations and is an asset to Whitehall's recreational opportunities and local economy.
WHS Volunteer/Good Neighbor of the Week: Erv Hedegaard. Erv is truly a "Good Neighbor" and has volunteered his time and energy in many Whitehall projects. Erv, who recently concluded a year as Montana District Governor for Rotary International, traveled across Montana, to California, Arizona, Singapore, and South America as Rotarian governor. He is a past president of the Whitehall Rotary Club, a former Whitehall School Board member, and an Elder at Zion Lutheran Church. He has been a positive influence in Whitehall for over three decades.
WHS Athletes of the Week: Whitehall All Stars. The Whitehall All Stars are a group of Whitehall 10-11-12- 12-year-olds who improbably beat a Helena 12-year-old All-Star team and advanced to the Cal Ripken State Baseball Tournament. Our "Athletes of the Week," a combination of two Whitehall youth baseball teams, beat Helena twice, 5-4 and 7-0, to qualify for the state tournament. The team, coached by Mark Nelson and Mark Allen, beat Helena at a divisional tournament in Boulder.
