Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Ledger Looking Back: September 13, 2000

The Whitehall Town Council got some good news on the street paving project during the September 11 council meeting and immediately took advantage of the good news by adding nearly one-third more of the town's streets to the schedule for paving in the upcoming year.

WHS Organizer of the Week: The Whitehall Ministerial Association. This Association is comprised of representatives from Trinity United Methodist Church, Jefferson Valley Baptist Church, St. Teresa's Parish, the Assembly of God Church, the First Christian Church, Zion Lutheran Church, and Communities of Christ RLDS, and work together to minister to the community in an ecumenical way. The Association conducts community Thanksgiving and Easter services, a special baccalaureate service, sponsors Vacation Bible School, and is active in the Whitehall Food Pantry.

WHS Volunteer/Good Neighbor of the Week: Jefferson Valley Search and Rescue (JVSR). This ground are good neighbors in a time of need. JVSR was established in 1972 and since then have helped with river rescues, automobile crashes, and finding lost hunters and children.

WHS Athlete of the Week: ALL Trojan Athletes. This week all Trojan athletes receive commendations for participating and competing. WHS basketball players, football players, and cross country runners practice hard every day and compete every week. The teams might be young, participation might be down, but the athletes who wear the purple and gold give a great effort every time.
