The Federation of Jefferson County Public Employees, a Labor union composed of 26 county employees, has voted overwhelmingly to endorse Tom Lythgoe for Jefferson County Commissioner. The vote was 18-1, with 20 members present and only one abstaining from voting.
WHS Student of the Week: Mike Hockenberry. Teachers say Mike has good problem-solving skills and that he comes up with insightful questions. Mike is the son of Mary Brazill and Tim Hockenberry. He plans to attend college after high school and enjoys snowboarding and skateboarding.
WHS Creative Leader of the Week: Amber Casebolt. Amber was nominated by WHS Choir Director Sandi Mabbott, who says she selected Amber because of her "willingness to help the choir run smoothly and her consideration in helping a new teacher get adjusted." Amber is the daughter of Marianne Traub and enjoys playing basketball, singing, and listening to music.
WHS Athlete of the Week: Jennifer Williams. Trojans Cross Country runner Jennifer Williams finished in 13th place at the Manhattan Cross Country Meet on Sept. 19. Jennifer is a senior and the daughter of Jim and Judiann Williams. She plans on attending the Oregon Institute of Technology to major in medical imaging. Jennier enjoys playing tennis, skiing, and traveling.
