Jefferson County voters in the Nov. 7 general election will have a selection of seven presidential candidates, will vote on five state ballot issues and one county ballot issue, and will decide winners in 14 federal, state, regional, and county races.
WHS Creative Leader of the Week: STEPHANIE BURTCH. Receiving honors this week is Stephanie Burtch, president of the Key Club. She was nominated by Mr. Kinzer, who says Stephanie "has invested much time in developing and working on service projects and has greatly increased the membership of the Key Club by her leadership and enthusiasm." Stephanie is the daughter of Karen Burtch and Dave Cole, and has plans to attend UM to study law. She enjoys drama, soccer, and listening to music.
WHS Student of the Week: NICK HOWSER. Junior Nick Howser has been nominated by Mrs. Bateman for his work in English class. Mrs. Bateman says, "Nick demonstrates good work habits and a positive attitude. He always puts forth his best effort and interacts well with others." Nick is the son of Ron and Faith Howser and plans to be a rancher after high school. He enjoys rodeo and mechanics.
WHS Athlete of the Week: KRISTEN LEVERTON. Lady Trojan leading scorer and leading rebounder Kristen Leverton earns "Athlete of the Week" honors. Kristen, a freshman, had 6 points and 11 rebounds against Jefferson and 12 points and 11 rebounds against Ennis, for a rare weekend double-double. Kristen is averaging nearly 7 points and over 5 rebounds a game, has 8 blocked shots, and 13 steals for Whitehall. She is the daughter of Claude and Annette Leverton.
