Christmas is on its way and the Library is looking festive as ever! Thank you to all of the children and adults who helped decorate the building. Part of our Stroll activities will be making more decorations to hang on the trees. Speaking of the Christmas Stroll on December 13th, here is a listing of the Library’s activities:
The Library will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. that day and things will be humming all the time. Our theme is “An Old-Fashioned Christmas” which includes sharing with others. The Annual Winter Wear Giveaway which includes free coats, hats, gloves, and scarves for all ages.
Then there will be stories and ornament making for children from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. that leads into Santa’s arrival at 11:00 a.m. He will be there until 2:00 p.m. but then he has to rush off to feed the reindeer. While the little ones visit with Santa, the Friends will be hosting their annual Christmas reception with all sorts of old-fashioned cookies and candies. There will be music and remembering from the past so come join us and celebrate!
Just an early reminder that the Library will be closed December 24 and 25 for Christmas and December 31 and January 1 for New Year’s. We will be open regular hours the rest of the month and the book drop will be open for those wanting to return items. Programs are ending for the year so make sure to pick up a calendar and mark which of your favorite programs are happening!
You may have noticed I have not been in the Library as much as usual. I have been fighting the nastiest virus I have ever had in my life! No, not Covid or SARS, but a different bug that has long lasting effects. My medical professionals tell me that they are seeing many people who would normally be healthy in two or three weeks taking several months to get back up to speed. If you need to talk to me, just leave your number at the front desk and I will get back to you. Rest is the only cure and trust me, I am a dreadful patient when it comes to sitting around.
It is a good thing so much of my job is writing reports, reading book reviews, ordering books online, and more, which is all done on the computer. We all try to keep the Library as germ free as possible but seeing 100-200 people a day means we work in a petri dish and things get shared. Please remember to wash your hands, stay home if you are sick, and be safe this holiday season!
