Between the Stacks: Week of February 11th

Happy February, and welcome to a busy couple of weeks at the Whitehall Community Library! Sign-ups are now open for the Speed Puzzle Contest this Thursday at 6 PM. There will be prizes for different team types, snacks, and lots of fun. Just call us at 406-287-3763 to sign up your team.

This week is also the delivery of the Cupid Crew long-stemmed roses. If you have a senior in your life and would like us to take them a beautiful rose, please call us to be added to the list. Many of our seniors have no one to make this holiday special, so you do not have to be a family member to sign up, just someone who wants to brighten the day of our oldest readers.

Preschool Storytime has moved to 11 AM on Wednesdays, right after Reading Rangers at 10 AM. Mothers of younger preschoolers will enjoy the Rangers, while older preschoolers love the regular story time. Everyone is welcome to come and bring younger children.

The Whitehall Community Library will be closed for Presidents' Day on Monday, February 16th. The library will be open for the rest of the week at its regular hours. The book drop is open seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day, if you need to return things.

The Mystery Book Club (MBC) will meet on Tuesday, February 17th, at 3 PM. Everyone is happier with the earlier time so they can get home before dark. The library has lots of new mysteries, and MBC is a great way to explore the new novels while discussing favorite authors and series. Everyone is welcome to come and join this fun group of amateur sleuths.

The library will be closed on March 2nd for docent training for the upcoming Anne Frank exhibit. These tour guides will be taking patrons and students through the Anne Frank exhibit during the month of April. I already have three days filled, so if you have a group who would like to see the exhibit, please call 406-287-3763 to reserve your group's spot. We are taking classes from the public schools in the area, homeschool groups, church groups, clubs, and more. The exhibit will be open on April 3rd and close on April 30th, so we can pack it up and move it to the next site in Missoula. There will be special programming during the month, so watch here for more information.

We are collecting all sorts of small tubes, CPAP hoses, bolts, screws, and anything else one can think of to make aliens this summer. Our theme is Flash Tomereader as he explores the galaxy. It is going to be a great summer!
