Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Elizabeth Olexovich Hunter, 84

Elizabeth (Betty) Hunter was born on October 5, 1941. She was born in Trenton, New Jersey, but called Whitehall, Montana, her home. Betty peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the age of 84.

Betty married Sam in January 1981, and they began their adventures together. Sam saw an ad in a rifle magazine they picked up in North Carolina, came west, and they moved to the mountains in Whitehall, Montana. They built a log home and lived there for many years, until Sam passed away. Betty continued to live there until she had to move to her apartment at the Springs Assisted Living Center in Butte, Montana.

She is survived by her loving sisters Margaret and Richard Parrish of Florida, Barbara and Guy Lettiere of New Jersey. Betty also had nephews and nieces, Todd Parrish, Jenn and Matt Carlino and family, Michael Lettiere and Melissa Chalker, Lauren Lettiere, John Olexovich, and Bree Frick and son.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Hall Hunter; her father, Joseph John; her mother, Margaret Malosh; and her brothers Joseph (Joanne) and John.

Betty loved the wildlife, especially birds; she also loved her poodles and cats. Betty and Sam enjoyed skiing all over and explored many different places. Betty was a dedicated member of Jefferson Valley Bible Church, enjoyed the Garden Club and New Horizons, and she also collected snowmen. Betty never slowed down, even when she was in a wheelchair. The employees at the Springs helped her to continue going and doing.

A cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Jefferson Valley Bible Church at 10 AM at West 8, MT. 2, Whitehall, MT

Thank you to the employees at the Spring for your caring and loving hearts for Betty. You truly made a difference in her life.

Betty will be missed by all of us, but now she is finally at peace with Jesus, experiencing pure joy.
