Dear Editor,
Whether you're a rancher, fishing guide, mechanic, or someone selling groceries to a logger, land and water are the foundation of our economy in House District 69. Therefore, we need representatives in Helena who understand resource management, want to preserve our way of life, and have a record of supporting these businesses.
As a farmer and rancher, Ken Walsh has the real-world experience and the legislative record to improve our resource-based economy. Ken helped create the Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program, which supports ranchers, conservation groups, irrigation districts, and many others in implementing land and water restoration projects across the state. WHIP funding allows ranchers in the Upper Ruby to treat noxious weeds across thousands of acres of public and private land to benefit livestock, water, and wildlife, and in turn the many businesses that rely on them.
As a former banker, Ken appreciates our community's financial needs and the challenges of running a small business. He invested in people when larger banks did not see their potential, jump-starting businesses that now provide good-paying jobs.
Ken actively participates in our community, not only with like-minded individuals or on social media. He listens to people and works hard to address our issues, not just those of his party or out-of-state special interest groups. And when folks have concerns or disagree with Ken's position, he takes the time to respond thoughtfully and explain his point of view.
Ken has consistently shown up for our community and supported the people and industries that keep our economy strong. Now we need to do likewise and support him at the polls in the upcoming primary.
