Dianne Marie Dvorak, 76

David Henry Kirsch, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Boulder, Montana, on July 8, 2026, surrounded by family.

Born on February 6, 1938, in Lewiston, ID, Dave spent his early years moving throughout Idaho and Montana before finding his lasting home in Boulder when he purchased the hardware store in 1972. There, he became a familiar face in the community while running the store until his retirement in 1999. Away from work, Dave found joy in Montana’s outdoors, teaching his kids to hunt deer and elk, fish nearby streams, pan for gold, snowmobile, and cut firewood to keep his customers at the hardware store warm. He also loved spending time at the family cabin near Helena, fishing, water-skiing, and hosting family and friends. In his later years, he enjoyed having lunch in Basin with his good friends Bob, Rick, and the rest of the gang at the Silver Saddle Cafe.

Dave gave generously to the Boulder community. He served as Boulder’s mayor, volunteer firefighter, member of the Board of Directors of First Boulder Valley Bank, member of the Boulder Cemetery Advisory, and later as a Jefferson County Commissioner, offering his time, leadership, and commitment to the people around him.

He was also a devoted fan of Jefferson High School sports and could often be found at JHS on weekends, proudly cheering on friends and family and supporting the teams.

Dave leaves behind a family who will miss him deeply: his former wife, Rhonda, his children, Pamela Schulz; Steven Kirsch (Erika); Cory Kirsch (Ester); and Bekki Wehner (Mark); his grandchildren, Tyler Schulz (Taylor), Cailey Kirsch, Kinsey Kirsch, Lukas Kirsch, and Hanna Kirsch; his great-grandchildren, Blakely Schulz and Koe Schulz; his siblings, Jeff Kirsch and Susan Kirsch; as well as nieces, nephews, several close family friends, and his good friend Chip, the dog.

He was welcomed in death by his parents, Henry and Bettyjane Kirsch, and his brother, Michael M. Kirsch.
