Between the Stacks: Week of September 2nd

Fall is arriving, and the Whitehall Community Library (110 W. First St) will once again be closed for Labor Day. The library will be open the rest of the week for regular hours, and the book drop will be open 24/7.

Fall programs begin this week with Reading Rangers at 10 AM and Story Time at 11 AM, making Wednesday mornings an early reader paradise. Come join us for reading readiness, stories, crafts, music, and more. Mommy and Me will begin next Thursday, September 10th at 11 AM for children two and under.

The September calendar holds several new programs for adults. On the second Monday of the month at 10 AM, the library will host a Writer's Group for anyone interested in creating their own writing projects.

Then in the evening at 5 PM, there will be a new Science book club for those who enjoy space, nature, medicine, animals, health, etc. The club will select an area of scientific interest, then expand it as members choose a book that matches their interests.

Kid's Quilting will have their first meeting of the year on Friday, September 4th at 3 PM. The young quilters are working on twin-sized bed quilts for the winter. This is a great way for older elementary through high school students to learn how to create different quilting projects and get comfortable using a sewing machine.

On September 10th at 5:30 PM, the library will be hosting a Mom's Night Out for all of our mothers. Join us for snacks, relaxation, and networking with moms from all walks of life.

On Friday, September 4th at 1 PM, the Senior Planet Class will learn about Understanding Frauds and Scams. If you would like to attend, please call the library at 406-287-3763 or stop by the front desk. In a world that seems to thrive on scamming everyone, this class is a great way to spot digital crime before it happens to you.

The Whitehall Community Library now has a new toaster oven and microwave. The old microwave was making strange and interesting sounds, so it has been replaced. Thanks to our friends at Jefferson Fresh Foods, we have hot pizzas and different treats to heat up for our hungry children. We also have many fun snacks for all of our young visitors who stop by after school.

With all the programs going on, please be aware that multiple children are crossing the main streets in front of the library. There is a crosswalk on the corner of First Street and Whitehall Street. Please slow down and let the children cross the road!
